Yep, you got it right. You can earn money simply by reading advertising emails. Of course, this activity won’t make you rich, but it can help you make ends meet. It all depends on how much time you can devote to it.

Paid emails are a bit like the paid surveys I already talked about in this article. In both, the earnings are not very high and depend a lot on the time you are ready to spend on this activity.
The principle is quite similar: You go to a website offering this type of mission (I have prepared a small list at the end of this article), complete an identification questionnaire, and then start receiving emails that you must read.
The questionnaire you will have to answer when you register will be used to get to know you better, but it will also allow them to offer you emails with a subject that closely matches your interests. These subjects are quite variable but for the great majority will focus on consumer products. Advertising then, but sincerely there is nothing cerebral in it, so it’s money easily earned.
Your task will not be to simply read the content of the email. You will also sometimes be asked to click on a link, register on a site, or even buy a product. If you do this, the reward will usually be higher. Read the subject line of the email before you open it to see what type of action you will be asked to take. This is often indicated.
Finally, note that there is a variation to paid emails called “paid clicks” (or “PTC” for “Paid To Click”). The principle is the same except that instead of receiving emails, you will have to go to their site and browse through the pages containing the paid links.
How much can I earn?
Overall, you will earn less than by answering surveys, but the time you spend on it will also be much shorter (sometimes it only takes a few seconds). On average, each email you read should earn you between 0.10€ and 0.30€. That’s not much, but then again, it’s not a very difficult task either.
So, if you manage to read a few dozen emails a day, you should be able to earn a few hundred euros in the best case scenario. But from what I’ve read, the average is between 100 and 200€/month, which is not bad. Well, that’s still between 25 and 50 emails to read per day, 5 days a week. But again, nothing complicated or tiring.
A Few Tips Before You Start
- First of all, beware of sites that promise you fancy earnings, and above all, NEVER pay to register.
- Create an email address specifically dedicated to receiving paid emails. This will prevent you from receiving hypothetical spams on your main address and will allow you to keep track of your accounts more easily.
- If you have to choose between different subjects during your registration, select a maximum of them (but not all of them) in order to receive a maximum amount of emails.
- If you find a site and want to see what other users have said about it, go to TrustPilot and search for the site name.
List of Websites with Paid Emails
Here is a list of some websites that offer to pay you to read advertising emails. As you may notice, some of them already appear in the list of paid survey sites I created here. This is not surprising as many of them offer both, and sometimes even other types of missions.
Site | Minimum payout | Languages/Countries | Bonus |
---|---|---|---|
Swagbucks | $5 | French / English / Deutsch / Español | $5 at registration |
Paid To Read Email | $15 | English | $3 at registration |
Inbox Dollars | $30 | English | $5 at registration |
Quick Pay Survey | $15 | English | $3 at registration |
Unique Rewards | $20 | English (USA, Canada and GB) | $5 at registration |
Cash 4 Offers | $35 | English (USA and Canada) | $5 at registration |
Inbox Pays | $50 | English (US residents ONLY) | – |
Fusion Cash | $25 | English (US residents ONLY) | $5 at registration |
Conclusion
My opinion on this activity is similar to that of paid surveys: You don’t earn much money compared to the time you spend on it, but it will suit those who have free time and want to earn a few tens of euros or more each month leisurely.
However, be careful if you are looking on your own because some sites will attract you with potential gains that are quite attractive but will ultimately prove to be quite unprofitable. The best way to find out is to test it yourself, perhaps.
EcoTips
Environmental and climate change issues are more than ever at the heart of the concerns of this 21st century, which is why I am proposing a few ideas that will enable you to limit the negative impact that the implementation of this idea could have.
These solutions that I suggest are sometimes largely insufficient to compensate for these negative impacts, such as carbon offsetting. Unfortunately, there is not always an ideal and 100% efficient solution, far from it. And if you have others, please do not hesitate to share them in the comments below.
This activity is not directly bad for the climate or the environment, but if you really want to reduce your ecological footprint, there are several ways to do this, such as:
- Opting for a green energy provider, if you have the option.
- Choosing a brand of smartphone or computer that really cares about the future of the planet but also not to change your device every year.
Pros
- A small quiet activity for those who have time.
Cons
- The amounts earned are quite low compared to the time spent.
